Retreats in Ananda Marga are always unique. In this one held in the Master Unit located in the Quebec region of Canada the highlight was the participation of the entire community living inside the Master Unit. Ac. Phanisananda's good cooking, gardening and public relations skills have created a pole of attraction in this remote rural area. Several families have relocated on the land adiacent to the Ananda Marga property finding themselves bonded with common ideas of cooperatives and vegetarianism. "During the karma yoga time we constructed two drive ways and we fostered a greater bond for more living development," Ac. Vimaleshananda said. Radhanath and Lilian living in an authentic mongolian yurt were among the participants. Patrick built several straw bale houses on the same land originally owned by Ananda Marga. They have a vision to make a young progressive community working toward change for the whole area. |

San Francisco has seen an influx of margiis recently and had the houseblessings to prove it. Sister Cetana, originally from Taiwan, moved from Boulder, Co. to attend school at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, Calif. On Sept. 13 Cetana had a houseblessing performed by Didi Ananda Lalita. It was well-attended. Sister Radha, from North Carolina also had a houseblessing the same weekend. On Sept. 14, her seven-month anniversary of moving to the Bay Area, she had her houseblessing. Sixteen people and two kids attended the event -- people were crammed into her one-bedroom apartment near Union Square. In addition, Radha started a dharmachakra in San Francisco, by Baba's grace, so the SF margiis don't have to commute to other parts of the Bay Area for their weekly satsaunga. |
